About the Working Memories Project

The Working Memories Collection

This collection of memories was inspired by the 2009 Robert Golden exhibition, Home.

The Home in Frome community group was formed later that year and over 80 local residents were interviewed between 2009 and 2012 about their working lives in the past. These stories and images highlight the many changes Frome has undergone over the last 70 years.

Thanks

There are many people we would like to thank:

Firstly, our thanks to Jacqueline Peverley whose energy and vision led to the establishing of Home in Frome as a vibrant community group.
Thanks to all members and supporters of Home in Frome and all volunteers who worked with us.
Thanks to all interviewers and interviewees.
Thanks to all who kindly supplied images. Particular thanks go to Sue Latham, Trevor Biggs, Martin Bax, and to Frome Museum who supplied a large number of photographs.
Thanks to Tim Graham of Millstream Books in Bath who oversaw the formatting of the book.
Thanks to Butler, Tanner and Dennis of Frome who printed the Working Memories book to the quality for which they were world famous.
Thanks to Pureprint who printed the second edition of the book and who have done an equally fine job.
Thanks to all who have worked to make this website: John Payne and Gill Harry from Home in Frome; film-maker, Alan Campbell; website designer, James Gardner and Frome Museum.
Thanks to Frome Society for Local Study whose generous donation made the project possible.
Finally, thank you to the people of Frome, past and present, who have responded magnificently to requests for stories, information, photos and memories. Without you there would be no book and no website. Thank you all.
